St. Patrick’s Day and Coronavirus

Due to concerns from Wright County our Maple Lake St. Patrick’s Day Celebration Parade and Festival was cancelled. The fear is that the Coronavirus situation would be too risky for the city to go on with the plans.

It was so bizarre to walk downtown and it be like a ghost town on what is usually one of the busiest days of the year in Maple Lake.

2020 has been very interesting so far with distance learning starting soon for the kids, restaurants being closed and shortages of toiletries. I have never experienced anything like this in my life. I hope the girls do well with distance learning, this will be an interesting learning curve, that’s for sure!

I am not really sure what that will mean for kids in Special Ed who won’t easily adapt to home education… I do understand the need to have social isolation and hope there is a way that Alexis can stay on track. She has been doing so well at school, I’d hate for her to have any setbacks. I’m sure Cadence will do alright but I’m really concerned for all my special needs families and friends, not only for the education reasons but also just trying to explain why the routine will be completely different and possibly not even having a time-frame to give.

This is an old video, still relevant today:
